Stupid buses.

my road is still mostly icy, but it turned out ok.

My positive experience with the taxi from my mum's last night has made me realise that our roads are currently slightly safer than the pavements.
So, I'm going to taxi to and from the supermarket and stock up for the weekend. I don't want to do this after work in the dark, and tomorrow predicts more snow, so i think I'm being rather sensible with my forward planning.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:26, Reply)
I need to stop at the supermarket on the way home. then I'm going to light a beast of a fire and watch films and smoke joints all evening.
thoroughly looking forward to it

Supposed to be going to my friend's birthday party but i don't want to get snowed in while I'm there and then the moggy will starve and die all on his own, or something. Or maybe I'm a bad lazy friend.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:38, Reply)
or is it because the party might suck?
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:45, Reply)
but I think a lot of people won't make it there.
So if it becomes a small party, there's pressure on the few people there to make it a 'swingin' jivin' partay'.
There is the fact that I might not be able to get a taxi home when I want to leave so I'll have to stay there, and I hate party embers when there are Phd folk around. It gets odd.
Or, it might snow a lot and I might not even get home the next morning.
All for ONE person's birthday. (I know a few of her mate's but it's not like I'm killing several birds with one stone and seeing any other friends of mine.)
Am I a bad person?

I'm a great believer in not doing stuff if you don't really want to, for whatever reason.
someone's feelings may get hurt a bit, but they'll get over it

Although I've not left the house in over a week. And am starting to go slightly insane because of it.
I'm on an ever depressing descent and I'm not sure why, so I'm going for a long walk once the Crooked Vultures torrent finishes downloading. Saw them by accident when they supported Arctic Monkeys at Brixton in August and they were quite good.
When I go out I suspect I'll be toasty anyway, casually mentioned to my old dear that I could do with some longjohns for uni up in Newcastle, she took that to mean I wanted them as a main present for Christmas and got professional ski standard ones along with a thermal vest, cost about sixty quid. Was slightly miffed at first but they're ace!
Sorry for going off on a tangent, I'm bored, feel like shite and am trying to pass the time. Carry on.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:24, Reply)
All may not be lost dude!
And trust me, it's warm in the house, but outside you can BREATHE the cold.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:27, Reply)
they supported Arctic Monkeys? what a waste of their talents.
the album is one of the best I've heard in a long time.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:28, Reply)
some of the teachers in my school were in a band called Dr Zimmer and the Frames. They were great.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:36, Reply)
Was in that horrible Wetherspoons outside the station and bumped into two mates who insisted we saw the support act despite no one knowing who it was, they were just down on the bill as guests. My group wanted to go in at about nine or so to catch the Arctics coming on but we were persuaded to go in early much to my dismay.
How pleasantly surprised I was whilst getting beers when out the corner of my eye I saw Dave Grohl waltz on stage!
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:31, Reply)
if I were to suggest a supergroup I would probably have included those 3, and lo! they came up with one themselves.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:32, Reply)
And before the Arctics started playing he went "sorry about that, we should the ones supporting them really, shouldn't we", expecting the crowd to boo and disagree with him in a light-hearted fashion.
No one replied. Everyone just stood there, shrugged their shoulders and went "well yeah, you should be actually". Was quite funny at the time. No one had heard any of their material before, coupled with the fact it was a total surprise. The crowd including me were blown away.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:43, Reply)
have you heard the guy from Arctic Monkeys' other band? Last Shadow Puppets
much better than AM in my opinion
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:46, Reply)
Take heed.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 9:51, Reply)
They're not bad, although my dislike for Scousers hinders my view slightly. Good album though.
I couldn't get into the AM's new album, hated it in fact. After seeing them at Brixton (also saw them at Newcastle Arena in November but it was awful, like going to a gig in a shopping centre) I fell in love with it. It's easily their best and has taken them in a fantastic direction. It's also diminished the tribal element of their fanbase, the ones that throw beer around and sing football chants between songs before shouting the words to Mardy Bum completely out of tune. I love that they've fucked off.
However I'm steering clear of them or any other low key music because I'll just start crying. I'm an emotional wreck at the moment. Crooked Vultures album is being given a spin at the moment and I'm lurving it. A lot.

I have my reasons though.
The bloke above me at uni is a Scouser, and he's the biggest cunt in the world thanks to his taste in music.
He's a six foot three stereotypical lanky power nerd, nothing wrong with that, but when he starts playing Puff Daddy's "Bad Boys for Life", Lemar's "If there's any justice in the world", Papa Roach's "Last Resort" and everyone's favourite Limp Bizkit track "Keep Rolling" at ridiculous times of day a switch goes in my head and I curse all things Merseyside related. He's had Keep Rolling on at deafening volumes at seven on a Sunday morning before.
That along with me and a friend being chased by a load of Everton fans is the sum total of my experience of Scousers. So as much as I try not to generalise I'm not Liverpool's biggest fan.
I'm sure you're just lovely, though.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:14, Reply)
Now stop, let the love wash over you.
I am fucking lovely jubbly and I'm scouse, so there.
I made a red-haired chef smile mid-rant once, so don't doubt my skillz ;)
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:17, Reply)
I've just realised I have met a nice Scouser before so I'll take your word for it. Your internet self seems friendly enough so I'm sure the real you is too.
Now my Zen better hurry up and charge, I can't sit indoors much longer or I'll top myself. I'm going to hit myself with a frying pan if I'm overcome with sadness again this morning. When did I turn into such a soft cunt.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:27, Reply)
I go soft now and again, but then I get a big frost around me with icicles on and nothing shall penetrate. I'm in the turning to frost stage right now. I'm relieved that I still have the ability, so I bet you do too kid.
Grrr.
Zen Mosaic?

It's amazing, and the size of a credit card. Plus Noel Edmonds is my background which cheers me up endlessly, he's a national icon you know.
I'm very much stuck in a rut at the moment, I love Newcastle more than life itself, but at the moment there's nothing I want to do less than go back up to uni. I just want to stay indoors and do bugger all. I'd laugh if I wasn't such a saddo!
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:38, Reply)
Because one can regress slightly after prolonged periods' with the folks.
Go back up to uni and get TOTALLY involved in something.
I am givin you advice I never took...
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:45, Reply)
It hasn't helped that my best mate got booted out from said uni last month. I need to get back up there and back amongst it all, I love university but I really cannot be arsed at present. To do anything.
I've made the decision just now that I'm going round the missus' tomorrow or Sunday to tell her how I feel. I'm a stubborn cunt but I'm not going to let petty shite ruin things. I think she's perfect and could quite happily spend the rest of my life with her. I won't let things slip away so soon after getting to where I want to be.
I feel better for writing that.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:52, Reply)
Tell her exactly like that, like you described there ^.
She'll eithersay that the petty things DO matter (in which case you'll know one way or another) or she'll be really chuffed and impressed and she'll totally agree with you.
It saves all the pining and wondering and worrying!
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:56, Reply)
I don't know how much longer I can sit around and think about it. I need to get out but I'm absolutely potless, the warehouse party in Bethnel Green last week really has done a number on my finances.
And I've already started to shit myself at the thought of going round. Christ what have I agreed to do. Not backing out this time though.
Thanks for the kind words.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 11:04, Reply)
I used to dislike the scouse accent, but I realised that was because I'd never met anyone I liked who had one. Met a girl from one of our other offices who was a scouser and she was a good laugh. made me re-assess.
(, Fri 8 Jan 2010, 10:05, Reply)
I'm hoping mine is one of the pleasant ones. You'd have to ask the B3tans who've met me. It gets stronger with booze.
I bet Becky says I sound like cats on a blackboard.
