It was a relentless dirge of shit emo bands and oh-look-at-me-I'm-so-indie-but-I-look-and-sound-just-like-every-other-fucking-band wankery.
What SHOULD they have played?

is bound to shy away from real rock music.

...but I reckon they'd have been better off playing rock and metal.

Please don't mention Tractor again. I will listen, I promise.

* 'Shakin' All Over' by Johnny Kidd & The Pirates on 7" - quite possibly the best British record from the early rock'n'roll years
*a Billy Lee Riley 'best of' LP which is early rockabilly- best track 'Flying Saucer Rock'n'Roll'
and last night I ordered 'Freelance Fiend' by Leaf Hound on reissue 7" - they're an obscure British heavy rock band in the vein of Free or Led Zep - it's a great slice of cowbell-heavy riffage. Marvellous. An original copy of their sole LP would set you back about £1500...

I likes that song very much.
My uncle told me to listen to My Morning Jacket and I liked a lot. Some sounded like it wasn't even by the same band and some sounded like Crosby Stills Nash & Young. I shall be listening again.
They have a song about fancying the librarian.

As the spectrum of metal is massive now, so it's hard to please everyone.
For me, if they didn't play any Pantera then the night would automatically be classed a failure.
Still, I'd settle for tracks by any of the following: Chimaira, The Berzerker, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Sepultura, Mastodon (Off Crack The Skye), Suffocation, SOAD, Metallica, Rammstein, Cradle Of Filth, or Carcass.
If it was 'rock' and there was no Queen, Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd or Mr Blue Sky - ELO then I would class it as a failure.

Although in relation to your Bowie hatred, The Monty doth protest too much, methinks

but I really do think he's fucking terrible, I promise you.
If I think about it properly, much of my loathing is actually directed at his fans who are, 'like, really into Bowie'. I don't what it is really - it's also a kind of 'can no-one but me see that this cunt's records are really, really pedestrian?' thing.

see below post! No but I can see what you're getting at. In fact so many bands are ruined by the blind-sightedness of the fans. Bands with alright songs such as OASIS! go from being an alright, almost acceptable band down to absolute dogshit simply because of the fans.

And a couple by Rammstein. There was no Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynard, Queen, Pink Floyd, AC/DC, ELO or Deep Purple to be heard. When I asked them to play Zeppelin's "Trampled underfoot" and the guy in the DJ box said "When it quietens down a bit" I knew it was going to be bad.

Give some of those emo-sexuals a bit of helping hand with their self-harming.

Stuck out in the middle of nomansland. The ratio of man to woo man something like 25:1.
But in my honest opinion they should've played the entire "Hunky Dory" album in order by the living legend David Bowie, followed by the entire "Electric Warrior" album by T.Rex

Also true that the ratio of human to sports scientist is very much similar.
