I am dining with my oldest pal
who was in *name of famous band deleted so I don't look like a namedropping twat but Vipros knows* to discuss getting something together musically.

The idea is do a fuzz freakout drone kind of thing like early Spacemen 3 or Loop but with a more upbeat approach, hints of the MC5.

the bass player guy?
that'll be cool. good to get something musical going, with someone who knows what they are doing

That's the fellow
I'm not selfishly exploiting his connections - we share a lot of tastes (despite his early gay indie leanings which seem to have been largely crushed by years of abuse from me) - but I cannot deny working with a proper professional with access to great equipment etc isn't attractive.

having the equipment and someone who knows how to use it
makes a huge difference in my opinion.

grab the opportunity with both hands and then shake it until it shits excellence

He's just acquired a 60s Fender Jazzmaster
which I am itching to have a go on.

nice
I need more guitars.

my mate picked up one of these recently
www.recordingking.com/resonators_rm991.html

I'm still not sure of the look, but it sounds beautiful, especially in an open tuning and played with a slide.

we came up with some good stuff last night.

I love a good bit of slide
Being retarded, I struggled with it for years before someone suggested tuning to an open G. Revelatory.

I'm still not very good at it, but it's one of the most evocative sounds ever, I utterly love it. Mine's glass, I've had steel ones in the past but they sounded too scratchy - my fault I'm sure.

That's a freaky-looking guitar but I kinda like it.

open D works nicely
and a normal tuned guitar works well with it if in Drop D.

my slide technique is a bit shit, but my mate has been playing that guitar non-stop for two weeks and has come along really nicely. He's got a really fat glass slide, which seemed crap at first, but is much better than any other I've used.

that guitar sounds incredible with a slide. really warm and rich.

that wouldn't be very profitable
I believe he may be in jail now due to some smuggling incident.

yup.
I'm starting a 60s style fuzztone band with Simon Fuller.

Our first tune is going to be a radical re-working of the 'They're gonna taste graaa-aate' Frosties song.
