So I'm due a handset upgrade. I'm on O2 so the shiny options are the Palm Pre or the iPhone. Or I could change providers and get a google phone. What do you reckon, OT? Bear in mind I'm pretty much using it for internet access, call and text goodies are of minor concern.

Pros: it is shiney and pretty
Cons: Battery life is rubbish

But when you consider how many times you actually change the music around, say, once a week or month, then it's put-up-able.
Only things I don't like about the iPhone is lack of Flash support and the Camera. Considering the lack of Flash, it's still the best mobile browser I've used, by a long-shot.
I still think Palm Pre has the best software with medioca hardware.
N97 Mini, now they've 'fixed' the software issues, is worth a look.
The Motorola "Droid" is supposed to be the best Android based phone.

Oh man, I thought you had some taste.
They're fucking aweful phones, seriously, they don't have a single redeaming feature about them, as far as I'm concerned.

you don't get much 3g reception OR speed unless your bollocks are glued to the naffing mast. this was illustrated perfectly by the recent trip to amsterdam where my reception was suddenly amazing and things blistered through at previously unheard-of speeds, leading to an unexpectedly large data roaming bill.

and an HTC Hero, so from that viewpoint:
- the Apple is overall "better" but in a way it's really hard to quantify.
- browsing on the Hero though with Flash etc is just better.
I'd recommend the Hero overall as no iTunes crap, you can take batteries out and swop them, and now it's been out 6 months you might get a good deal on it.

Some good deals around for something that no-one seems to hate, which seems rare with mobile phones.
