was what I uttered aloud when I read this headline on CNN: "Want healthy kids? Learn how to cook." No shit? You mean that cooking things myself might eliminate some of the preservatives and other crap that processed foods are loaded down with?
Great. Next headline should be: "Want to lose weight? Eat less and exercise more."
Apparently the standards for journalism are slipping just a tad. I'd guess that the people who find that concept to be an eye opener are the sort who'd sneeze themselves to death if it weren't for cold remedy adverts.
What headlines have you found to be shocking in the obviousness of the subject matter?

the local one round here is more for surreal ones:
"rouge drugs epidemic"
"Potato Looks like Fish" (really, it was an article about a potato that looked 'exactly like a turbot')

we had it up on our kitchen wall in uni
"we bought a bag of potatoes, my son in law pulled one out, it was 6 inches long and looked exactly like a turbot. I couldn't believe it!"

A professional gang of bicycle theives we nicking loads of newish bikes in Cambridge. A city with millions of the damn things. Apparantly they were chopping off the locks with huge bolt croppers and loading them into the back of a van. One night I picked up a copy of the Cambridge Evening news to find the headline, "Over 30 Cycles Stolen From City Centre". Fine. Nothing wrong with that. Then the sub title... "Police believe it to be the work of cycle theives". No shit Sherlock.
