So, I joined Facebook after years of saying "Oh no, never, not me, no siree, I have a life".
And am now receiving friend requests from all and sundry. Trouble is I'm not sure who half of them are. BGB was kind enough to tell me one of them was Roota, but that's about all I've sussed. There's even someone from school and I haven't a fucking clue.

A couple are obviously b3ta types (the use of b3ta usernames kind of gives them away) but the rest... no idea.

Is this normal? And should I have a glass of wine?

Yes, and yes.
There's about fifteen people on my friend list who I'd completely, entirely forgotten about. And some b3tans. Just message them asking who the fuck they are. Job done.

I may have to do that.
"I'm flattered that you want to be my pixellated chum on the internet but I have absolutely no fucking clue who you are. Would it be terribly vulgar of me if I asked you to give me more detail"?
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:55, Reply)
That's it exactly.
Oh, and never add anyone you don't actually know. Randoms always end up being really odd.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:02, Reply)
I figured.
I'll stick with people I know IRL and b3tans I think.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:04, Reply)
I have this problem
as LARPers never know each others' real names. Problem is, if you message them and the answer is "I am ... remember?" you feel like a dick when you don't

have some wine
it is normal

I'm the one whose profile pic is them stood in the dark with a guitar ;-)

alright Noel
glad you are coming down at the weekend
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:44, Reply)
I'm a lovely combination of amazingly excited and shit-scared
I'm driving down and back which is a novelty in itself. We'll be there a couple of days beforehand and a couple after and I plan to get plenty of walking in if the weather isn't too horrendous.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:52, Reply)
It'll be the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
If your idea of fun with clothes on is getting drunk with people from the internet.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:55, Reply)
That's cetainly my idea of fun.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:56, Reply)
Hey!
That does sound like fun, clothes or not.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:57, Reply)
I'm like a small child at christmas at the moment.
Just waiting for father clendrix to empty her sack into my stocking.
Oh god, oh god, oh god I might go to sleep now so tomorrow comes quicker and the weekend will be closer.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:01, Reply)
ah how sweet :-)
mildly nervous that all you other buggers who'll be there when I get down already know each other and will have settled in somewhat.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 21:26, Reply)
That is to be honest tremendous fun

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:57, Reply)
I've already sussed you out.
The beard kinda gives the whole thing away.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:52, Reply)
it does somewhat
it works as a handy disguise for people I used to know though.

Bumped into my old head of sixth form the other day however and he recognised me immediately. The man is an absolute legend, one of the greatest people I've ever met.

What is this "going to Dunstable" thing?
Is it a euphemism for shagging up the rusty sherriff's badge or taking a dump?
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:44, Reply)
it's a multi-purpose euphemism

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:44, Reply)
Thanks!
I read the thread after it'd died the other day and came to the conclusion it was probably bum related.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:47, Reply)
IT WAS MY IDEA.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 23:35, Reply)
Shirting was your idea.
You invented it.

I know how you feel.
My blue tooth name on my phone is B3tarded, and I always hope to meet a b3tan this way.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:45, Reply)
I reckon I spotted about 13 b3tans on your friend list
Not that I'm a stalker in any way. Nope, no sirree bob.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 19:53, Reply)

"WHO is this person I have had suggested to me? I am assuming he is a B3tan?"
And then phewed when it wasn't Edmund.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:34, Reply)
Aww, I would have been amused if it had been
Almost a shame it wasn't.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:40, Reply)
That's possibly the nicest thing anyone has said to me all day.

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:42, Reply)
Any time kid

(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:45, Reply)
It's a long time since anyone called me "kid".
Although I'm looking at old school mates pics on the upcoming school reunion page, and by Christ I've aged well compared to some of 'em!
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 20:54, Reply)
Oh, wait....
I got a recommendation from a b3tan this morning. Was that you?
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 21:05, Reply)
Don't think so.
Unless it was an automatic thing.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 21:17, Reply)
I just cancelled my Myspace account
Felt great.
I'm getting really good at letting go of things.
I might get rid of some clutter after Easter. Not pretty clutter. Just useless clutter.
(, Tue 30 Mar 2010, 21:12, Reply)
This sounds like a great idea
To Myspace!
