Dick Dale was fucking awe-inspiring last night.
The dude is in his 70s but rocked HARD, interpolating all sorts of stuff into his songs including Link Wray's 'Rumble' and even 'Smoke on the Water'. He also plays a mean trumpet and harmonica, but hearing that guitar sound actually coming from the fellow who invented it is something I shall remember all my life.

My father is sick to his stomach with jealousy, but also mightily proud that he's passed on his boundless enthusiasm for Surf Rock onto his son. I can only hope my daughter gets into it too.

Plays a mean trumpet and harmonica.........
Is that a euphemism?

No, after the show him and Monty did some serious bumming though

(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 18:55, Reply)
I bummed him back into the early 1960s.

(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:03, Reply)
Naturally, since it's a well known fact that Monty is a massive shirter
Alright Al?
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:04, Reply)
He is indeed
I'm good thanks, feel a bit sick and full of chocolate and I haven't had my tea yet, but we've had a really productive weekend so far, and there is still another day to go!
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:07, Reply)
Fucking great, isn't it?
I had Thursday off too, as I had my washing machine repaired but the man was gone by half ten. I've had two full days with my daughter, gone to a gig and gone on the massive piss. Splendid.

That sounds like a canny weekEND so far, and there's still tomorrow :o)
We had a Grand Day Out in York yesterday for a mate's birthday. There ENDed UP being a dozen of us as we met UP with Blousie and Beekers too. Full of beery win and architectural splendour.

York is beautiful, isn't it?
Shame it's in fucking Yorkshire though.
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:20, Reply)
Yeah, it's quite a hike from your neck of the woods.
Just over an hour by train from here though, as is Edinburgh. It's not all bad living in Geordieland!

I was so pissed yesterday
that I hit the wrong button at the cashpoint and accidentally withdrew £400. It's taking all my puny reserves of willpower not to go on the rampage.

Help!
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:30, Reply)
swallow it
can't spend it, it's in a safe place and then in two or three days time you can stroll to your bank and pay in a couple of hundred pounds worth of money covered in excrement!
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:37, Reply)
That's a shit idea

(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:38, Reply)
I'll just stroll in there
and take a massive dump in the little bank hatch thingie (what are they called?). Sage advice there, Halfers, cheers.
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:40, Reply)
At least
i didn't say "give it to me"
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 19:58, Reply)
Haha for that I am indeed grateful.
Well it's purely academic now, as I've put in a call to 'the man' and have also found out that my legendary old pal 'Lucky Jase' is drinking locally, having vanished from the scene about a year ago when he moved to south London.

Goodbye money, it was nice knowing you.

good skills
I spent most of yesterday shopping for beds rather than getting drunk, that is how middle aged I now am, sigh
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 20:15, Reply)
I got excited about washing machines last week.
Not only 'rock', but also 'roll'.
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 20:24, Reply)

I've been thinking...
If you are, as you say 'drowning in minge with a cock snorkel', then you are using a man's penis as some kind of breathing apparatus, and therefore you are by your own admission a bumlord and helm-guzzler extraordinaire.
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 21:21, Reply)
rather envious
although this weekend was been splendid.

Topped off nicely with roast goose and plum and sloe gin sauce followed by rhubarb and ginger brulee.
(, Sun 4 Apr 2010, 21:02, Reply)
Good was he?
A bit like Bowie then?
(, Tue 6 Apr 2010, 8:39, Reply)
Incredible
so no, nothing like him at all. He didn't dress like a prick once and his stage show was refreshingly mime-free. No attempts to fellate the bassist's guitar were made, neither did he attempt to court controversy by flirting with Nazism. An excruciating murdering of 'Dancing In the Streets' was also notable in its absence.

In summary: 11/10
