speaking of that
I totally fucked up a lemon meringue pie this weekend. I failed at the cornflour + boiling water stage and the whole thing was just a congealed mess. Plus the lemons I used were value lemons so they had no lemony flavour whatsoever. In the end I just picked at the meringue topping over the weekend and then binned the rest. Sad face.

aww man
pudding disasters are the worst disasters.

I know, it was made worse by the fact
that the meringue was perfect, so it looked delicious, but in reality it just concealed a gelatinous goo pile of blandness.

I did make a toffee apple crumble last week that was fucking amazing. I had to eat it all myself because my other half doesn't like desserts (freak) and I was expecting to feel all "please god, no more" by the end of it, but I just wanted to make another one straight away.

I find puddings to be the hardest thing to cook
so my mrs does those.

I can't cook to save my life
I think I've even built up an immunity to undercooked chicken from when I lived by myself. However, desserts and sweet things are my forte. Except for lemon meringue fucking pie, obviously.

that sucks
lemon meringue pie is totally my favourite

my mum made rhubarb and ginger brulee the other night. I've never tasted anything like it. it was incredible.

sounds interesting
I'm not a fan of rhubarb though, it's just sour and horrible. Although that's based on a childhood experience of being forced to eat rhubarb crumble gooseberry icecream *shudder*

it does need a good amount of sweetening
I've only recently started to eat it.

the pudding I mentioned was unbelievable. All 6 of us were astounded by how good it was.

nobody in my family will touch it
after my mother made a rhubarb crumble and my brother commented that it looked like stewed bollocks

that's gross!
