I've never worked with treacle and it was my understanding it's akin to tar!

When I make gingerbread
I replace about a third of the golden syrup with treacle. Much nicer.

Also, if you're spooning it in, dip the spoon in vegetable oil, tap off excess then scoop with that. Slides off like a dream.
