Breaking my leg and being fed by my folks (who insist on clean plates, and give far too big portions) didn't help.
I've been getting back into cycling now the weather's good, and try to eat smaller portions. I'm also starting the 100 pushup and 200 sittup routines. Hopefully I'll see some change soon.

I surf as much as possible (4 hours yesterday :-D ) and swim once or twice a week

I'm about as inland as one can get, so surfing's out. Plenty of countryside for me to cycle through though, and I was looking at maybe getting a beefier bike for hitting the trails.

I've only just started, and I'm rather pathetic at pushups (no upperbody strength, it's all in my manly, muscular legs). Yesterday I started, and did 20, broken up into 6, 6, 4, 4.

Started yesterday, I feel weak and powerless.

Actually, very sensible. That sounds like my start-up routine, every time I get back into it. The pace soon picks up if you just keep at it. (Memo to self: start doing sit-ups, lazy git.)

got to the 3rd week and it got hard so I stopped :-D
have got one of those cruncher things at home (mrs insisted) and I could do with toning the belly, so should really be doing more sit-ups

So will do some sit-ups and push-ups in addition to my cycling.

Hence I either cycle in't countryside while listening to music (on cyclepaths only!), or play on the ps3/360 while on the exercise bike. The pushup/situp routine doesn't take long, which is good.

even listening to music the exercise bikes and runners etc. were dull as fuck
yet I can happily swim 40 lengths without getting bored.

And all the muscle jocks took up all the weights machines.
Mind you, the ultra-hot Polish lasses were a perk.

Swimming bores me to tears and everyone is always in the way but at the gym I can zone out with my music on.

also, because I'm paying for it my innate stinginess ensures I actually go regularly.
