was it Oscar Wilde
who made the beautiful/useful qualification?
(, Wed 16 Jun 2010, 15:18, 1 reply, 16 years ago)
depends
"I have found that all ugly things are made by those who strive to make something beautiful, and that all beautiful things are made by those who strive to make something useful.”

that one?

don't think so
thanks anyway. Going to plague me now. It's along the lines of evaluating if an object is useful or beautiful, and if it is neither, getting rid of it

oh, the "don't have anything in your house that isn't beautiful or useful" one?

(, Wed 16 Jun 2010, 15:24, Reply)
that would be it
it is Wilde then?

William Morris apparently
“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful”

I studied him. He was boring
I like Phillip Starke, he's my favourite designer. He's just cool as fuck.
