and I like this.
Stuff where the the constuction and process is integralto the art is generally engaging.

all the "I don't get art" "I don't like science" "I don't like foreign films" shouldn't ever be considered a valid opinion it's just laziness.

qualify it as art. It qualifies it for interest and respect, but not for relevance as an artistic work

I was dismissing Cave duck's description.
I was part of the 'I refuse to talk bollox' school of art.

I love art, but I hate all the pretentious bollocks that is spouted around it.

My Dad was an engineer and extremely practical man. I've inherited his interest in how things are actually made. It's actually a pragmatic artisan's view rather than some high falutin pretentious interpreting of the artists emotional motivation.

Having re-read my post, I can see how why you would think that. The bit about knowing a lot about art was supposed to just a daft reversal of what many people say when asked about art.
Besides I'll no doubt come out with something wanky and pretentious soon, so you may as well leave the insult in place, to save having to get out again later.

After three years at art school and hearing all the pretentious wank some of the students came out with, I get a little ranty when it rears it's ugly head.

particularly because of the type of construction. also, it's going to be strolling down the beach, powered by the wind. what's not to like?

I'm not sure whether I consider that type of thing art or not. I assumed it was because I was told as much.
