Capybaras
Hydrochoerus Hydrochaeris.Largest living rodent on the planet. Closely related to chinchillas and guinea pigs but a hell of a lot bigger. There are incidences of them being domesticated and kept as pets (in fact I think one was reported in the Times not so long ago). According to Wikipedia, they can grow to around 1m30 and weigh around 65kg. That's one hefty guinea pig.

Fair point.
But those gorgeous little juvenile platypum won't be babies forever...

(Which is, of course, a crap counterargument, because one could equally say that those beautiful capybara won't be alive forever, and will one day be decomposing on a plain in South America, there carcasses being picked at by crows and vultures. Won't be so cute then, will they? Will they?)

Platypudula are full of win, whatever age they are.
Did you know they can detect electric fields with their bills?

I think the capybara is cute in the same way as a badger. Otters would probably be easier to cuddle, as would platypernalia, but a badger or a capybara has a similar appeal to a medium-sized dog.

Quite possibly, but the sieve-like properties of my memory have increased in proportion with age and alcohol intake.
Though the seal-spanking bit is ringing a bell somewhere in the empty crypts of my cranium.

I don't think I'm one or t'other, I like cats and dogs, but I think I'd rather own a cat if I had to make the choice.
