one of the computers I use at work has a screen that is something like 27"
it's awful to use. you don't want to be turning your head to look at one side or the other.

That makes sense
The problem is that dropping right down to 22" only makes around £20 difference which offends my inner skinflint.

I can appreciate that
personally I've gone for a 32" tv and a 19" monitor. I'd probably go a bit bigger on the monitor if I were to buy again, but that's because my bedroom is big and I watch stuff on the computer a fair bit. using it for computer work it is fine.

I use the 17" 1920x1200 screen on my Macbook and a 24" of the same resolution, and it's perfect for me.
Yeah', sure, I'm turning my head, but it means I can have 4 things open at the same time where all I have to do is glance my eyes to each window. I find it really handy being able to, say, edit my code and view the results from the edits and have another browser open for non-work related stuff (like b3ta) at the same time.
