exactly, the smugness is abrasive.
And unwarranted.

She talks down to everyone and whatever you're talking about, she knows more on the subject. But her bloke told me a bit ago that she's really insecure, so I guess it's just a defence mechanism, which makes me feel bad about saying anything. I just wish we'd get some of that self-deprecation that she lavishes on her boyfriend.
