I believe there was also a tradition of all the men being vainglorious braggards
You know where I'm going with this

...nup?

Vippers

Vippers would make a semi-good Spartan
They went in for their beards, though kept the moustache shaved.

Though they also had their hair long, as it made "the beautiful men more beautiful, and the ugly men more ugly". I'm thinking of two this could apply to...one of each.

I'm not muscular or disciplined enough to be a Spartan

(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:40, Reply)
Neither am I
but luckily Lampito is fat and has a funny accent, so I'm ok there, so I can pretend to be.

nah he's a Viking

Kitty would make an excellent Spartan woman
We like sex and are physically fit*, we sleep with lots of people and actually get out of the house.

*on these criteria I am a dreadful Spartan woman

Braggarts, or blackguards.

(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:32, Reply)
or blaggards?

(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:33, Reply)
Or am I wrong?

(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:33, Reply)
I think blaggard is a contraction of blackguard

(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:37, Reply)
I'd never heard braggart
and was wondering if I'd been mishearing/reading braggart as blaggard.
(, Thu 15 Jul 2010, 9:39, Reply)
Blackguard is pronounced 'blaggard'
