I would if I led him into a 5mph zone

You could be done for running in excess of the speed limit then

(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:21, Reply)
I don't think it applies to pavements

(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:23, Reply)
I saw someone yesterday avoid traffic by going on the pavement and overtake a load of cars.
True story.

Was it a 4x4?
Stretching the definition of 'off-road' a bit far.

Nah', but I had a really friend Nigerian cab driver, who I was in when I saw it.
He laughed and said it reminds him of back home, then he told me all sorts of stories about back home, Nigeria sounds like a good place to live, as long as you ignore all the crime.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:47, Reply)
you were in a nigerian cab driver?

(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 10:04, Reply)
That made no sense, what I said.....
"Nah', but I had a really friendly nigerian cab driver, who's cab I was in when I saw it".

I don't think my car goes that slow
it goes straight from zero to 30
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:30, Reply)
Is that true?
Or is it that your massive fat foot mashes the pedal straight into the floor?
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:33, Reply)
of course it's not true
that would be ludicrous
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:41, Reply)
In 1st gear
with your foot off the accelerator, you'd be trundling along at about 5mph. I could work it out more accurately for my car if I could be bothered looking up the idle speed and gear ratios, but I can't.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:35, Reply)
it does indeed
it trundles along nicely in 2nd and to some extent 3rd as well.

useful for car parks and traffic jams
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:40, Reply)
Must make parking in ASDA a bit of a bitch.
*Taps accelorater for a microsecond, and smashes into the car on the other side* "FUCK, not again !" *taps it again, and goes through front door* "..... shit".
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:37, Reply)
it's not easy I must admit
you get used to it though
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:40, Reply)
I imagine when you tap the accelorator and VRRRM VRRMMM the car....
... it sounds like an angel screaming and the devil singing.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:42, Reply)
yeah
those 1.9 litre turbo diesel engines really make an exceptional sound
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:44, Reply)
I donno what that means, donno much about cars.
So it's almost the size of a big bottle of coke?
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:45, Reply)
It's a four cylinder
Each of the cylinders is about the size of a largish can of beer.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:47, Reply)
Do they fill up with petrol each time they go up and down?

(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 9:53, Reply)
air and diesel vapour

(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 10:01, Reply)
In a four stroke diesel engine
some diesel is injected as the piston is coming up the cylinder, then it ignites by compression, forcing the piston down again. The next time it comes up, it pushes the exhaust gases out, then on the way down draws fresh air in. There's a system of valves which controls air in and out.

So every second stroke, fuel is introduced into the cylinder. But only a little bit.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 10:04, Reply)
Oh, ok.
Wouldn't a 1l be faster than 3l then, as it's the same amount of fuel, except it takes more energy to push up a 3l piston than a 1l piston, 'cus the energy is disipitated more?

I know that ain't true, but not sure why.
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 10:14, Reply)
the 3l ones takes in more fuel and air
so the resulting explosion is bigger producing more power.

as I understand it anyway
(, Fri 23 Jul 2010, 10:15, Reply)
Indeed
More space for the fuel-air mixture, so a bigger explosion, as Vipros says.
