well if you're worried of spiders - my advice is to check your shoes thoroughly BEFORE you put them on.
every. single. day.

That way, if you find one, you can die safe in the knowledge that you know what killed you, and laid it's eggs in your eyes, nose and mouth

How about if I say that it'll be scorpions instead?

I think I'll start my shoe checking now so I get in the habit.
I'm this close to checking under my desk now where my delicate little socked feet are innocently perched, even though I'm in Manchester and the closest we get to scorpions are the ones encased in vodka.

Scorpions in Vodka?
Do they drunkenly whistle "Winds Of Change"?

how many giant scary spiders have you seen in your 17 short years of existence in what has been described as "Nature's Thunderdome"?

In my house, in my car, in the shed, in the garden.
they are everywhere. I have very nearly crashed the car on Multiple occasions due to the appearance of spiders bigger then the size of my hand from the heating vents.

oh god I'm well scared now
the aim of this was to try and reassure Wiggy, but now we're both going to be doing OCD checks in and around everything we touch.

Cities are nowhere near as bad.

ok feeling slightly better
from my research I think Brisbane is the place I'd most like to go, so if I steer clear of the outback maybe I'll be ok!
