I'm not that into punk. That said, the best punk album is Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come.

Most 'punk' is not punk.
Some of the original stuff's amazing. Real 'punk rock' like mid-60s garage I LOVE.

It is proper punk, it doesn't sound like classic punk, punk rock or 'pop punk', it's something else, more raw.

But I think they're worth a listen.
(The album does mix in some drum 'n' bass style samples, just a 'heads up' in case you hate that sort of thing).

Although seem to prefer the more aggressive, loud, percussion-heavy music most of the time. Depends on the mood I'm in.

Gibby Haynes from the Butthole Surfers (of whom I have been a huge fan for many years) guests on one track, always a good idea to have Gibby on board.

you might hate them, but their early stuff is raw heavy rock, the newer is a bit more blues-tinged. Got some great stoner lyrics throughout.
I recommend their song The Great Outdoors for a taster.

I'll check the new one out. I do love their cover of "Do you think I'm sexy?".

People (particularly film/programme makers) representing 1976/7 always make out that it was full of people sporting mohawks and wearing bin liners and bondage trousers, when it really, really was nothing like that.
The bit in the Great Rock n Roll Swindle (and it's the only bit worth watching) that cuts between the actual footage of the Sex Pistols on their trip down the Thames and the reconstruction of it, illustrates this perfectly.

That I found out how much of the Sex Pistols image was engineered. I have a pair of Sex Pistols boxers, officially licensed, which I bought from New Look for a few quid.

The original people were really inventive in their dress – by the time a ‘punk look’ was being marketed, and there were ‘punk nights’ in clubs etc the game was already up.
