Paramore are touring in November
and, much more importantly, Pendulum are touring in December with fucking HADOUKEN! supporting

Alt Q - It used to be summer before it ceased to exist. Probably Autumn as that's when people give me presents for my good work in getting a year older

ALt Alt Q - Right now. Every time I close my eyes I see an alternate world where you fancy me more than you do my girlfriend

I really want to go to that
tickets are proving a bitch to get hold of, however, and I don't particularly want to go on my own.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:47, Reply)
after seeing Pendulum at Sonisphere
I have been put right off them.

A couple of tunes were good, Voodoo People and Tarantula mainly, but the bellowing tosser exhorting as to "Make some fucking noise" and informing us every few seconds that "This is it" annoyed the shit out of me
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:50, Reply)
People still can't believe
I saw Fightstar instead (though I did catch about 10-15 mins worth)
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:52, Reply)
10-15 minutes is all you need
because it was all the same.

I still like their slower tracks from the albums, the more spaced out stuff, but all they played were the banging ones with that standard Pendulum synth sound.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:53, Reply)
*sigh*

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:53, Reply)
I know someone who broke both their legs at a Fightstar gig
-sighs-
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:55, Reply)
that bad eh?

Anything to get out of there!

A barrier fell on him, if I recall correctly.

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:59, Reply)
Good god, how would they ever deal with a *real* gig?

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 14:57, Reply)
that's like me having to stifle a laugh
at a friend who informed me proudly that she fainted while moshing in a BMTH pit
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:00, Reply)
Bring me the Horizon?
worst band at sonisphere this year.

fucking hell they were bad
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:01, Reply)
I didn't see them
saw them on the Kerrang tour a couple of years back and they were shit, so avoided them
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:05, Reply)
Oh good lord
If she's not used to it, then fainting is to be expected. But being proud of it?

Only thing I've brought away from a gig proud was a cracking black eye. The only reason I was proud is because he didn't knock me out.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:02, Reply)
I broke my nose seeing a local metal band
called Torna-K. Fucking stupendous band.

I bled everywhere.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:04, Reply)
Nice
The black eye was from Carcass in Leeds, massive guy came stumbling out of the pit, cracked me with swinging fists trying to get his balance. Thank god for adrenaline.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:09, Reply)
I was headbanging (long hair days)
my mate was in front of me, my head went down as his shoulder came up and there was an unpleasant union.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:14, Reply)
I got dropped by a 10 year old in the mosh pit at Slipknot in Cardiff.
Kid just jumped up in front of me and the top his head went into my jaw before I staggered backwards and collapsed. Then preceded to be kicked by goths.

appreciate I get punched more than the average bloke.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:26, Reply)
She wasn't used to pits
and thus viewed it as a badge of honour that she made it in. I had to fight very hard to stop myself grinning and then laughing in her face
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:21, Reply)
I don't do well with rough gigs.
My friend had an excellent solution to gig crowding. At Leeds 08, he had stolen a lifejacket, got into the middle of the pit at Pendulum and inflated it on one of the drops.

He survived.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:03, Reply)
That's pretty genius actually...

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:03, Reply)
I had a friend say a pit was brutal because they got hit in the face.
The gig? Lost Prophets...
I told them how I was heading into the pit of a Machine Head gig (Vipros, I know you don't like them, but I do) and saw someone stumbling out, demented grin on their face, shirtless and with a bleeding BITE wound on their shoulder.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:16, Reply)
someone almost ripped my top off
during Rammstein at Sonisphere. That was pretty brutal
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:20, Reply)
sorry about that...

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:20, Reply)
You're only sorry you didn't succeed.

People can like who they want
with the exception of U2.

Pitchshifter was pretty hardcore in the pit, particularly as I was bruised to shit from having seen Amen a few days prior.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:22, Reply)
Pitchshifter were actually brilliant every time I saw them
Never got to see One Minute Silence though, apparently their pits were carnage.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:24, Reply)
I'd barely heard Pitchshifter when I saw them
and have barely listened since. But I like what they are about. Particularly Hidden Agenda.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:26, Reply)
First two albums were quite death-y
Then they changed to a rock/nu-metal sound which I prefer. www.pitchshifter.com and deviant are good albums.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:31, Reply)
deviant is the one I know/have
it's a good sound. They're drum and bass sounding stuff was suitably banging. good transitions between that and metal too.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:34, Reply)
That's what i liked about them
They nailed the dnb+metal sound solidly.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:35, Reply)
yeah
I used them as an example to my mate when I was suggesting we do a bit of that in our work.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:36, Reply)
Spineshank are also quite good at that

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:38, Reply)
oh man
I haven't listened to Spineshank in years
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:39, Reply)
Recently rediscovered them
Along with Stabbing Westward and Strapping Young Lad.

I'm going to have to email myself a list of CDs to dig out

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:42, Reply)
One minute silence supported Slipknot at Cardiff
in the middle of Rise and Shine they got one half of the arena to move against one wall, one half against the other and when they dropped the chorus both sides were to charge at each other.

That was incredible. Such a great band.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:28, Reply)
I always missed them whenever they played locally
One of the many bands I wish I'd seen live before they split.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:32, Reply)
One of the best gigs ever that night, and a huge part of that is because of how good
OMS were, American Head Charge were a bit shit but Slipknot were fantastic. I know they are a bit cheesy but they do it for me.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:34, Reply)
S'alright
I like Slipknot too. Saw them supporting Slayer a few years back, they rocked it HARD. Couple of years later they came 'round again, only this time Slayer were supporting them...
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:37, Reply)
I went to that tour what was it called again?
I went to Birmingham, Unholy Alliance, that's it. With Mastodon supporting.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:41, Reply)
I was there too, in Birmingham.

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:34, Reply)
Do you ever think a band/artist are ever "alright, not my cup of tea"?
Or can every musical act throughout history be put into two categories; "sublime, God-destroying-ly great" or "fucking shit"?
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:35, Reply)
^this

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:36, Reply)
There are bands I think are 'fucking shit'
but I can still respect people's liking of them - bands such as Muse who do a good show and are competent musicians and thus fair enough if you like them - even if they are fucking shit...
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:38, Reply)
But there's no group that you think are just 'alright'?
That you think are good musicians, you might like a few songs, but not with the euphoria you reserve for Tractor or Hawkwind.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:40, Reply)
I can't think of one.

I love that bit in The Simpsons when Bart replaces the elderly organist's sheet music with Iron Butterly's In A Gadda Da Vida and after the lengthy intro, they all start singing along.
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 16:00, Reply)
I also love that bit

(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 16:03, Reply)
I'm sorry, I can't let this lie
Either you were watching a different band and were so stoned you couldn't tell - a distinct possibility - or you're a fucking idiot. It is completely impossible to be bored at a Pendulum gig. It's been proven by clever scientists.

Also; hello, nice to see you again
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:06, Reply)
Nope
They were repetitive and all the songs blended, there wasn't much crowd movement. Fightstar were better

And hello too
(, Wed 15 Sep 2010, 15:13, Reply)
Paramore have the hot redhead as the front woman don't they.
Hadouken are dull mind. Pendulum is gym music of choice.

Welcome back fuckface.

Hot enough for rock'n'roll
The disturbingly-named Tobey Torres aside, there's been a paucity of hot rock star singers in the last ten years or so

check out Lauren Harris
she's the daughter of Steve Harris from Maiden. Saw her band last year without knowing who she was. They're alright, and she is smokin'

Steve Harris is the least freakish of them
and he must have a hot wife, because the daughter is tasty.

Do they have to be rock musicians per se?
If blues is permitted, then Joanne Shaw Taylor is rather delightful and can also play the guitar like SRV. If trip-hop/electro is permitted then Geike Arnaert is possibly the most beautiful woman on this earth.
