Because I didn't want a subdural haematoma
I was panicky due to a smack to the head and a rather large bump and no memory and a crippling headache and shakes and unable to walk and vomiting.

Of course I didn't know if this was the brain bleed or the hangover.

If I'm correct, they don't directly 'infect' you
They lay eggs on other insects; when that other insect bites you, the botfly eggs go in. Lovely stuff.
