Brussels sprouts are a case in point
I love them. But my dad insists they taste really bitter and unpleasant.

it's really only cucumber of the green veg/fruit that disgust me.

Must be a different compound then. I'm trying to remember - are they called alkaloids, or flavinoids or something?

Edit - come to think of it, aubergines taste like sick to me. But maybe they're just like that anyway?
