Meaning she has a protein-rich diet which is low in carbohydrates and therefore keeps her thin. Of course, she has to eat so many to make up her daily intake that Kitty has no fleas by the time Applebite is sated.

I was understanding that the one having fleas was slim because the fleas eat the blood of her. In Spain we say: On a skinny dog you'll only find fleas (more or less)
