I hope you aren't plotting on taking me for court
For shit food shopping and cooking advice?
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:37, 1 reply, 15 years ago)
of course not *ponders*
I did get an excellent dinner, just from bothering to black tie it up and listen to some pretty interesting people

How did the jacket spud come out the other day?

(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:44, Reply)
alright thanks
had about half of it then gave up.

Made up for it tonight though. Delicious dinner

What did you have?

(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:51, Reply)
the starter was a bit of a disaster
I'm allergic to fish/shellfish so instead of the tiger prawn salad with parmesan, avocado, salad and sweet chilli sauce, they gave me the same salad with quail eggs instead. Which obviously I can't eat.

The main course was guinea fowl with smoked bacon, on pea risotto with asparagus which was delicious, then dessert was lemon tarte with grapefruit and orange sorbet and raspberry smoothie

Sounds fantastic.
Was the drink flowing freely?
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:54, Reply)
glass of champage at beginning
two white, two red and then port afterwards. No dessert wine this time sadly
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:55, Reply)
I really don't care for dessert wine at all.
It's far too sweet.

I'd have probably requested a coffee rather than the port too.
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 22:56, Reply)
haha we had coffee/mints as well as port
I went for both :(

I like dessert wine in small quantities. We always have the same Brown Brothers one here, not the fellows stuff

Sounds like a lovely evening.
Does this happen often?
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:02, Reply)
depends how often you sign up for stuff
guest night on a friday has similar quality food, costs about £12 and there is always the odd subject or tutor dinner going
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:05, Reply)
Twelve quid for that sort of nose-bag sounds like a steal.
Get involved!
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:10, Reply)
It's pretty good
food on a normal night is about £3.50 and usually decent- 2nd Monday for example is breadcrumbed fried brie with cranberry sauce, steak and chocolate cake
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:14, Reply)
You couldn't cook that for that price.
Forget everything I've said about cooking and shoppoing and do that instead.
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:16, Reply)
we have the best food in Oxford
apparantly anyway.
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:18, Reply)
Well fuck the dried pasta and jacket spuds.
Eat there instead!
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:27, Reply)
I have to remember to sign up
though you are right I should eat there more often
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:28, Reply)
Do it.

(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:36, Reply)
they gave me the same salad with quail eggs instead. Which obviously I can't eat.
sorry, not obvious? Quails aren't shellfish, I'm pretty certain.
(, Mon 1 Nov 2010, 23:40, Reply)
Amberl can't eat eggs.
