then a quick trip to deepest Patagonia, followed by a week in Tahiti, then trekking in the Sierra Nevada for a month.

Did Singapore once before, so HK would be a good stopover. I also fancy going to the Cook Islands again, but logistics may prevent this.

You could be there for the Chinesse New Year too (expectacular, but most shops will be closed for 1 day). Make sure you have time to explore Lamma Island (half a day should be enough).
Bangkok is as well a great stop over; very cheap and quite nice, although most Thais will think you're a walking ATM...
