I'm feeling worryingly smug today. I'm halfway through my exams, I have one more tomorrow and then one next Thursday. I have not had any problems with them so far, and am feeling pretty confident I'll get a decent mark for them.
I also got a haircut so I look nice for you lot when I come visit in 12 days time (fuck where did the time go??).
So! What's on for your days then? Anybody doing anything more fun then studying?
Alt: Why did we get /ot-raped by /talk anyway?
edit - that was a rubbish question. Stuff it. Which movies should I stick on my iPod for the trip, and why?

Maybe it would be a good idea to put an option to block all pictures from /questions ? If I wasn't working, I'd knock up some javascript that'll turn all images into links that only show when you click on them.
There are tube strikes on today which are a real bitch, it'll take me yonks to get into work now. Sad Times. I think it'll add about 45 mins to my journey so I'm gonna get dressed in about 10 mins and get myself off to work. I think today I'm gonna stay at work 'till 8ish tonight 'cus it'll be easier
I found something really awesome last night, I have to dynamicly create some charts at work, and I've found a system to do it easierly: www.highcharts.com/ .... yesterday I was using GoogleCharts to create the charts, and it's totally shit and confusing. It's Dullard Central for anyone who isn't into web dev or data-geeks though.

I wish they had a trick like you said for the images though, cos seeing those things about 15 minutes after I woke up was not the eyeraping I needed.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 7:29, Reply)
certainly made mine.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 7:46, Reply)
and first thing I read was this morning from work. Luckily, at work almost all the pictures appear as a red x, so I haven't been eyeraped.

How's life? Anything interesting on TV? And by interesting I don't mean football or dancing, eh?

Sorry for taking so long to reply, had to pop out of the office to indulge my filthy cravings. Can't beat Gregg's. Am loving this series of The Apprentice, if that helps... how are you?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 9:02, Reply)
I had to wait for my shopping yesterday, so I couldn't go to bed early (they were late) and I had to wait for my taxi this morning, more than 10min in the cold. Not a good start.
I've never watched The Apprentice, but then, I don't watch much TV. I like a lot Good News, though.
How are you doing?
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 9:15, Reply)
Never fails to make me chuckle. Ms Foxtrot bloody loves him. A bit too much, if you ask my opinion.
I'm good thank you, also tired but that's nothing new these days. Will be somewhere over Asia this time next week so counting the days until then. Hope your day improves :-)
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 9:36, Reply)
I only have another 4 weeks here before leaving towards the sun :)
I love Russell Howard too. I'd be happy to spend some "quality time" with him :)

He's not a bad bloke - he does a lot to raise money for Epilepsy Action as his brother is a shaky window licker.

Glad you're feeling good about them
EDIT: Depending on how easily you can get hold of recent releases I can't recommend Inception too highly, might not be ideal if you're drifting in and out of sleep though
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 8:17, Reply)
should always include United 93.

on a flight to Canada. But at least it was a disaster movie about a ship in the north Atlantic, not an aeroplane.
I think they edited out the bit where Kate Winslet got her tits out though. :-(

and saw the shitty images below on the main OT page. WTF?
The only movie I've watched recently was the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but unless you've read the book I don't think it would make much sense.
Edit - Woo! It's my candle day!

I'm going to Tenerife on the 1st of December. I'll be back to London the 10th of January for a couple of days, but I think you'll be gone by then.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 8:30, Reply)
I should be in Ecuador by the 25th of January, so I don't think I can meet you. I'll be traveling on the 12th towards South America.

then a quick trip to deepest Patagonia, followed by a week in Tahiti, then trekking in the Sierra Nevada for a month.
Actually, I'll still be in Scotland, but I just felt like joining in all this travel stuff.

Sounds great. I have too many places to visit, and too many people asking me to visit them. And far, far, far too few holidays.

We've got a New Zealand trip planned for New Year 2012 though, so hope to manage to take in a few other places on the way back.

Did Singapore once before, so HK would be a good stopover. I also fancy going to the Cook Islands again, but logistics may prevent this.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 8:46, Reply)
You could be there for the Chinesse New Year too (expectacular, but most shops will be closed for 1 day). Make sure you have time to explore Lamma Island (half a day should be enough).
Bangkok is as well a great stop over; very cheap and quite nice, although most Thais will think you're a walking ATM...

Also Mongkok night market, Lan Kwoi Fung on a Friday night, Stanley for brunch on a Sunday and Wednesday nights at the races in Happy Valley.

When I flew to Brisbane, Emirates were only a couple of £ more than Qantas/BA, and the service was far better. Plus we got a night in a proper bed in Dubai included in the price.
I guess it all depends on dates and so on.

Drinking for 12 hours then staggering home on foot meant i got to bed at 2. Only to remember this morning about the fucking fucking fucking tubestrike. So now i am having to walk all the way back from kensington to the city, about 7 miles, and i really think i'm going to be sick right here in hyde park. Dreadfully sad times!

Then a sancerre, a pouilly-fume and some v fancy premier chablis thing. Then on to henry's for dirty vodkas. Bleurgh.
Foodwise nearly everyone went for the obvious langans choices, codnchips or bangersnmash. I won't eat again all week!

If I stomp solidly for 90 minutes I'll cover five and a quarter miles, that's 3.5 miles an hour which is a pretty good average pace on grass. Keeping 4mph up on tarmac is tough for longer periods.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 8:58, Reply)
but I've got longer legs than rswipe, so it's easier for me.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 8:59, Reply)
out in the country you'd be doing well to keep up 3.5mph on undulating ground.
(, Wed 3 Nov 2010, 9:12, Reply)
I thought it was 7 miles because that is what car says when i drive it, maybe that was rounded up or i take a shortcut on foot... I do walk quickly but it's not exactly powerwalking.
Dooooooom. Not even your second lovely parcel is going to cheer me up now (but THANK YOU anyway).
So nearly just walked into a tree typing this, a whole number 9 bus is laughing at me.

I'm not doing too well tbh, someone I've known for a number of years is dying, and I'm not sure how I'm holding up. I have no right to be upset, as I should be there for my friend (it's his Stepdad that's dying), but I just don't know what I can do. I'm seeing him this weekend, he doesn't know that I know yet.
I'm working today, then going to the gym tonight, fun(!)
Films, you should get Boondock Saints 1 & 2, Let The Right One In, Shawshank Redemption, Van Wilder and Watership Down. That'd keep you entertained for a while *awaits flaming from rswipe (who it seems still hasn't noticed my sig) & Kitty*
