I love visiting Berlin
it's big but there aren't that many living there so it has loads of space for people to do the oddest things. In terms of nightlife I think it's good to have a local show you because it can be hard to find.

I visited while backpacking
it was completely empty everywhere until we found a big street party and the river full of plastic ducks

was only there for a couple of days, though

Exactly that kind of oddness is what I like about the place.
There are loads of warehouses and churches in which people can set up odd art installations or bars or nightclubs. It's a relatively cheap place to live too.
