So I've been and played the piano
It was electric, and the sustain pedal was wired in such a way that it worked in exactly the opposite way from every sustain pedal ever, which wasn't entirely useful.

if i sent my friend a link to your pics
and told her to choose one for christmas, before i did that, could you let me have a list of prices, eg to get them on a square canvas at snappysnaps or similar???
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:17, Reply)
Yes, yes I could
Would probably use snapfish for it. If they had an idea of what size they'd want too, that'd be good.

edit: Also, how's Swipe?

i am going to her new flat next weekend
so will be having a sneaky look around the walls, i'll be in touch.

i am good but COLD. congratulations mr POD, great news on the job front.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:30, Reply)
COLD? You're COLD you say?
Is that because you walked a long way outdoors?
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:33, Reply)
yes, this
and because i can't work the central heating in my flat, which is victorian and has very high ceilings etc. so although it's not too bad, because i am stealing other flats' heat, and the heating has usefully been on all day whilst i am out at work, it's nippy enough.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:35, Reply)
Ah, I remember living in high ceilinged flats
My room had microclimates. The one around my bed made me shake from the cold when I was trying to get to sleep.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:37, Reply)
yes
this is why you need a nice massive-chested/armed bloke in there at this time of year.

although i can see how you would much rather be cold than take that option.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:39, Reply)
You are correct
Such men can piss off out of my room.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:40, Reply)
I'll have him if you've got one going spare
seeing as how PoD doesn't want him...
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:43, Reply)
A massive-armed woman doesn't really have the same appeal

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:44, Reply)
sadly i don't even have the prototype yet
never mind any photocopies. but when i find them, i'll send one your way.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:45, Reply)
Oooh I sometimes get that
Did you have it pressed down when you turned on the keyboard? That's what mine used to do...
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:17, Reply)
Nope, tried turning it off and on again
I think it's just been fairly badly treated by its owner over the years. I'll get my own one at some point once I've started being paid.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:23, Reply)
o_O
Bloody 'ell. I'm so simple minded. I could never do anything like that!
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:29, Reply)
It was really hard*
It went against how you naturally want to play the piano, and makes it almost impossible when you've never done it before.

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:32, Reply)
The building the pedal
but I imagine having a load of sustain when you're trying to play will be annoying. But I hate keyboards, I can't play without weighted keys.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:36, Reply)
I'm generally a bit of a piano snob
And only play electric stage pianos if they have nice weighted keys. I'll need to get an electric one when I'm in a flat, due to the loudness of a real one and all that.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:39, Reply)
I did my last few graded exams on a Steinway
-shudders in pleasure a little from the memory-
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:44, Reply)
I went into a music shop in Glasgow once and had a try on one
It was amazing.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:49, Reply)
my dad has one of those
i got up to about grade 6 on it as a kid, the keys are v realistic.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:44, Reply)
Get yourself a nice Clavinova
they're lovely - I can't really tell the difference between mine and a 'real' piano. Doesn't need tuning every time I move, either...
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:46, Reply)
This is a very good point
I'm going to need a music room in my new place at this point though.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:50, Reply)
that's what my dad has!
i am still tempted to the hot pink piano in the shop on high st ken though!
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:53, Reply)
Harrods has some AMAZING pianos
which I desperately wanted to try but didn't have the guts to.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:59, Reply)
just sneer at the salesmen/security guards
then they respect you!
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:08, Reply)
*shakes head*
Only Katie Price seems more keen on pink than you, and no sane person likes her.

Do you want to be seen like that?
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 22:59, Reply)
Katie Price is no 'Swipe, fo sho.
Except I would with Katie Price.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:02, Reply)
you'd stick it in a microwaved melon if there were nothing else

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:04, Reply)
Bollocks I would.

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:05, Reply)
But if you've got your knackers in a melon
Where are you going to put your cock? In a nearby passion fruit?
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:06, Reply)
you'd laugh if you saw my flat
it's very subtle really! only the kitchen has any pink in it.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:03, Reply)
Where do you keep all your exercise stuff?

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:06, Reply)
my lounge is quite big, about 20' by 16'
going into a bay window. so i have all the exercise stuff in the bay window. i have to remember to draw the blinds before using it though!
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:07, Reply)
But that too, is pink, if I recall your purchases correctly?
Bar that rogue green thingy.
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:15, Reply)
no, the boxing tube is chocolate brown leather
the gloves are pink
(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:20, Reply)
Is a boxing tube very different to a punch bag?

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:25, Reply)
identical!

(, Fri 3 Dec 2010, 23:42, Reply)
But I'll bet a boxing tube is more expensive!
