Here we are in the land of the never bloody happy
.
It's been a fab day, weather-wise, at least here in Edinburgh. For once, the schools are closed and it ain't raining. The sun has been shining since I got up (stupidly early 'cos I had to work) and is still shining now.

Finally, it feels like spring is well and truly here, about six or so weeks late.

So what did I hear on the bus coming home? Moaning gits bumping their gums about the sun shining in the bus windows. This is the first really nice day we've had this year, I've got the cool-dude shades on, and I'm looking forward to relaxing in the garden for a bit. These boring farts just wanted to get back indoors and hide!

The sun's been shining all day, why did they not stay at home if they hate it that much? And why are they wearing thick coats? Have they been playing at "Let's go and faint in M&S?" Of all the days to discover that the MP3 player wants charging up ... normally I'd never even have heard them.

I've just checked the weather forecast (or BBC guesswork as we usually know it) and they're saying it's to be sunny all week. Must charge up the MP3 so I don't hear the moaning every bloody day. I'll go back to walking when these new shoes stop rubbing my toes.

Yay for sunny days!
Actually, this weekend I got a bit sunburned while hiking in the mountains. It was worth it, despite the gormless whooping idiots belming at the tops of their lungs to one another.

Best quote of the day: "Look at that tree! Isn't it pretty? It looks just like a giant bonsai tree!"

The sad part was that he didn't have any idea how hilariously stupid that was...

Sunburn? Well, it's warm here, but not *that* warm. Mind you, I'm Scottish. My skin is either so pale it's practically blue, or lobster thermidor red. No happy medium.

Well, over here
I'm a bit closer to the equator than you are- the sun is a little more intense. I was also about 4000 feet above sea level.

And, due to a tick bite and resultant Lyme disease, I'm on doxycyclene, which has as one of its side effects the tendency to make your skin VERY sensitive to sunlight. Lovely stuff- sunburns, nausea, general malaise, all in once convenient pill...

Still very glad I went, though.

Lyme disease
is nasty stuff - there's been a bit of press coverage over here as well. Seems to be on the increase all over the place - or maybe just better diagnosed?

Keep taking the tablets though - if they're that bad, they must be doing something to help.

Look up the symptoms of Lyme disease.
It's more than nasty. This is not my first time with it- I got it a few years back and had it for the better part of a year before I figured out what was wrong with me. During that time I felt like I had a mild flu bug, my joints ached and I got spots in my eyes (floaters). My eyesight is permanently damaged from it.

I'll take the pills, thanks. The sooner I'm rid of this the better.

I just googled it
and wish I hadn't. That is absolutely awful.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Oh, it's not that terrible.
The advanced case of it I got a few years ago was bad, but I know people who've been hit much harder with it. This go-round it's more an irritant than anything- I detected it in less than two weeks after the bite. Got a nice big blotch on my right thigh and started to get achy, but that was about it.

Now it's the meds that are making me feel ill- but I'd rather have that than the disease itself.

Hear, hear!
Yesterday was a lovely day in Edinburgh, and although I had to spend it revising, I still managed to enjoy the shockingly beautiful day (even if I didn't spend it drinking in the Meadows).

(That wasn't a complaint, honest...)
