Why is dyslexia so hard to spell?

I have found that the dyslexics I know are actually better at spelling
words that they don't know, because they are better at guessing it.

This is quite true
I also try and proofread/spellcheck my stuff although if I'm tired/excited, my spelling goes straight into the crapper.
