This is a question Amazing displays of ignorance

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "My dad's friend told us there's no such thing as gravity - it's just the weight of air holding us down". Tell us of times you've been floored by abject stupidity. "Whenever I read the Daily Express" is not a valid answer.

Ambiwlans - Has dumbing down gone too far?
For those of you that don't know pistonheads - I posted this:

I saw this yesterday near Scun.thorpe (for the swear filter) - has dumbing down gone too far?

Or have I missed something?

And have spent nearly two years having the piss taken out of me...

I am a moron. It's official.

Those pesky welsh
On holiday there as a kid I thought we were staying in a town called Gorsef because of the sign at the end of the road that said 'Gorsef Station'

Driving with a few friends in Wales once
... in convoy, for safety.

We lost one of the cars. I called them, asked where they were. "It's OK, I can see a sign!" they answered, "we're at Gwasanaeth!"

"You're at the service station, aren't you?"

"Yes!! How did you know?"

Yes, yes you are. Clicky from me though, partly for being able to laugh at yourself but mostly for sharing the joke.

If it makes you feel less stupid...
I moved from the countryside to go to uni in Swansea, and the whole three years I lived there I thought that 'TAU' on the front of police vans was the Welsh word for 'Police'. . . as opposed to Tactical Aid Unit aka the riot van.
To be fair to myself you don't see too many riot vans growing up in Cornwall... Only figured it out when I moved to Brum and wondered why there were so many Welsh police vans out on Broad Street most Saturday nights...
