This is a question Tightwads

There's saving money, and there's being tight: saving money at the expense of other people, or simply for the miserly hell of it.

Tell us about measures that go beyond simple belt tightening into the realms of Mr Scrooge.

Tipping at a cafe for breakfast?
and about 40% at that?

Sounds odd to me.

Waitresses
earn fuck all.
If you're on a decent income, asking for the small amount of change out of your fiver seems a bit tight to me.

They're on minimum wage at the very least, right? Britain has the highest minimum wage (in dollar terms) in the world.

If you're earning much more than they are, then good for you, quite rightly tip.

But let's not end up like Americans and their expected tips.

I don't tip anyone for doing the job they're paid to do.
I only tip if they go above and beyond the call of duty. I'm not giving anyone free money just for doing their job.

They earn at least minimum wage
which is what supermarket checkout staff, call centre agents, toilet cleaners and shop assistants get. Do you tip all those people too?
