They will lose your expensive parcel then refuse a claim despite you paying for extra insurance because you cannot provide photographs of a missing parcel.

Did they tell you when they sold you the insurance that you would need a photo of the parcel in order to claim if it went missing? Send them an email/letter including the phrases "trading standards", "financial ombudsman" and "if I do not receive a satisfactory reply within 10 working days".
