Shouldn't that be A2?
After all, if the linear measurement was doubled, the area would be quadrupled. Unless you do mean that the person was twice as tall, but just as wide, in which case

Isn't it sqrt(2) times as long and sqrt(2) times as wide?
A3 is twice the area of A4. A3 folded in half (in one dimension) gives A4.
