Mosquito bites?
I might be known as a bit of a 'Mears' type hedge monkey, but this is a great tip.
Get one of those electronic ignition piezo cigarette lighters and remove the ignition device.
Instead of scratching the bites, click the ignition spark onto it.
You'll get relief from the bite without scratching it and opening it up for infection.

quite true
the spark de-natures (changes the molecular shape) the protien in the mosquito's saliva (which causes the itching).
The same works for bee and wasp stings too!!

There you go.
I do talk sense sometimes.
There is a specific item for sale in camping shops - £9.99
Lighter - £0.80 and you have a means of making fire too.

You just pissed on
my bonfire ;)
Seriously, though, that looks like a good idea. Heading out for some catfishing right now, so I'll try it.

this sounds brilliant
does it actually stop the itching completely or just for a while?

It's pretty effective - I reckon the strength/voltage might play a part.
It's a damn sight better than scratching the bites though.
I suppose you could use one of those ignitors for lighting the gas hob - minus the flame of course!
Here's a link to the proper device www.patient.co.uk/pharmacy/ZapperClick_Quick_Easy_Mosquito_Bite_Relief.htm?ID=ZACL1

Oooh
That really is a top tip, innit? I suffer with the mozzies quite badly, so I shall be keen to try this next time.
