Got a great tip? Share it with us. You know, stuff like "Prevent sneezing by pressing you index finger firmly between your nose and your upper lip."

House under threat from Bush Fire?
Scared of being burnt alive?

Flee to the bathroom, fill up the bath with cold water. *IMPORTANT* Take a straw!

Put coins in your pocket to help keep you sunk to the bottom and use the strw to breath. You will stay cold BUT ALIVE while the flames burn down your house.

This is still going on for a lot of us mate.

At least 166 people are dead and 24 blazes remain out of control as Victoria's bushfire crisis enters its fourth day.

You'll want to skip Sickipedia this week too then.

I don't see what the problem is really.
I mean, ok, a couple of bits of charcoal have escaped from the barbie. Cooked your shrimp though right?

A modification.....
....is required as currently this will still result in death.

Instead of a straw, use 6 foot of hose (the shower hose will be fine). Push some damp cotton wool down the end (not too tightly) to serve as a smoke filter, and hold the end out of the water with your foot. Ensure the rest of the hose runs underwater to your mouth.

This will remove excess smoke, and also cool the superheated air to a point where u can actually breathe it.

I personally would also leave the tap running, and use lukewarm water. No point being chilly, if it's so hot it can boil the water, you're dead anyway.

OK perhaps my first attempt was flawed and could be modified.

A shelter may be required over the top of the bath to prevent debris falling in and injuring you and your family.

Also run the majority of the hose through a bath of ice water to ensure cooler air supply.
