I have tried your suggestion, and whilst it works, it does leave indelible marks when I throw the pasta against the wall to see if it sticks and is therefore done.
I should be so glad to receive your remedy for this.

Thank you for your suggestion.
Unfortunately Mr. Muscle was only partly succesful. While it did remove most of the stain, it also took off most of the wallpaper. However, I think I might have scrubbed too hard. Then again, perhaps I should not have used a pan scourer.
No doubt you will have seen Nozirrah's suggestion. Although it would not previously have applied in my case, as I have to redecorate I shall incorporate his remedy by replacing the wallpaper with walltiles!
So all should end happily.

Take a 12"x12" piece of MDF and cover it with spare kitchen or bathroom tiles... It will sit very neatly in the bottom of the cupboard, under the pasta collander, and when needed, just get the youngest child / missus / Religious fantatic that happens to always knock on your door as dinner is being served, to hold it up at chest level as you take 3 paces back and fling the juice-soaked, weak, limp, lifeless, Itallian substitute for mashed potato, at the board. Cooking can be made into a game, and is more entertaining if you deliberately miss on the first couple of attempts. (This works best on Mormons with their pristine white shirts... JW's tend to be a little more scruffy already - or have my neighbours got to them first I wonder?)
