Spag Bol
when making spag bol, don't cook the spaghetti in a pan on it's own, put it in with the bolognese, 10 or so mins before serving. It does take longer to cook it due to you not actually boiling it but the spaghetti soaks up all the lovely juices that the bol has created.

Or cook it in salted water until it's almost al dente
then drain it and stir into the hot sauce and leave for a few minutes to absorb some moisture and serve. Yum.

I'm sorry but I tried this tonight and it was foul - maybe because I was using bolognese sauce from the jar, but the spaghetti soaked up all the moisture, leaving the whole meal with the consistency reminiscent of a brown trout after a night on the lash.

It was like eating a burnt microwave meal but still tasting like it should, deceiving my mind into new parallels of awkwardness.

Maybe I did something wrong???

Just follow my recommendation and all will be right with the world.

Dear Kip
I have tried your suggestion, and whilst it works, it does leave indelible marks when I throw the pasta against the wall to see if it sticks and is therefore done.
I should be so glad to receive your remedy for this.

Mr Muscle?

Dear Kip
Thank you for your suggestion.
Unfortunately Mr. Muscle was only partly succesful. While it did remove most of the stain, it also took off most of the wallpaper. However, I think I might have scrubbed too hard. Then again, perhaps I should not have used a pan scourer.
No doubt you will have seen Nozirrah's suggestion. Although it would not previously have applied in my case, as I have to redecorate I shall incorporate his remedy by replacing the wallpaper with walltiles!
So all should end happily.

The Cure for Spaghetti Smears
Take a 12"x12" piece of MDF and cover it with spare kitchen or bathroom tiles... It will sit very neatly in the bottom of the cupboard, under the pasta collander, and when needed, just get the youngest child / missus / Religious fantatic that happens to always knock on your door as dinner is being served, to hold it up at chest level as you take 3 paces back and fling the juice-soaked, weak, limp, lifeless, Itallian substitute for mashed potato, at the board. Cooking can be made into a game, and is more entertaining if you deliberately miss on the first couple of attempts. (This works best on Mormons with their pristine white shirts... JW's tend to be a little more scruffy already - or have my neighbours got to them first I wonder?)
