if you work in the field for long enough, but medicines have really fucking complicated names. Given the chance and consequences of getting it wrong I'd rather just say "I don't know".

So write it down. If it's anything important or there's an outside chance of needing it again. If it's a long word, FFS, try a letter a night until you've managed it all. "The yellow pills, you must know" is not good enough, sorry.
Perhaps I should try it myself though. It's a clear liquid I need, please. Couldn't be bothered to remember the name. Ah yes, insulin. Funny how easy to remember these hard words can get when your life depends on them.
