This is a question The B3TA Detective Agency

Universalpsykopath tugs our coat and says: Tell us about your feats of deduction and the little mysteries you've solved. Alternatively, tell us about the simple, everyday things that mystified you for far too long.

Women.
Simple everyday things that mystify me. I just cannot win when it comes to women. I've tried the nice guy approach, the bad guy approach, the I-dont-give-a-fuck approach and I've even tried to be myself (Which always ends in tears). Its not like I'm a social retard, I know how to navigate interactions. Who knows...
Guess I should just give up and go and buy a cat, they're much less mysterious.

Have you ever thought of trying the "women are human beings and I should stop trying 'tactics and approaches' and just talking to them without making it plainly obvious I'm desperate to shag them"
approach?

Well, yeah.
Roofie-use should go without saying.

I find it's worth neglecting to mention the bucket of ears kept under the stairs

Just pay for sex.
It's cheaper and a lot less stressful.
As for:
"women are human beings and I should stop trying 'tactics and approaches' and just talking to them without making it plainly obvious I'm desperate to shag them"
I call bollocks on that one. I lose track of the number of women I've seen, or heard of, who immediately decide a guy's not good enough based on one silly mistake in a conversation or the fact he doesn't behave exactly as expected in her social circle (e.g. opening a door for her or not or calling her too soon).
Also I've met few women who don't play some kind of game with the guy they're seeing or constantly rate his every move, sometimes checking with friends, to decide if he's good enough.
Plus, the guys I know who are most successful with women, and that the women fawn over, always use "moves and tactics" obviously designed to get women into bed.

I'm currently single and seeing a friend on a strictly casual basis, at her insistence. She was the one who set the rules at the outset: it's just for the sex, I enjoy your company but I don't want a relationship, etc. Fine by me.

We have already had an argument on two separate occasions because part of me just cannot believe this is all she actually wants. Why? Because no other woman has ever actually wanted this from me. Worse than this, one has already claimed this was all she wanted but before I knew it we'd been going out for six months.

shouting 'can i sex you now' does not count as 'one silly mistake in a conversation'.

I beg to differ.
In fact, you are displaying exactly the attitude I'm talking about.
Assuming that the guy in question is otherwise decent, what difference does one silly little slip-up make, especially when women know that's why men are talking to them? If you're looking for "Mr Right" why overlook a guy because he comes out with a Freudian slip, or is a bit tipsy and says something rash? On the other hand if you're just looking for a shag then what does it matter that he puts it to you in such a silly way? Perhaps he's great in bed?
What you're saying is that men should treat women like a different species who need to be wooed using tactics and approaches and men should never let their guard down and be themselves.

The RSPCA
tend to really frown on it when you shag a cat though
