This is a question "You're doing it wrong"

Chthonic confesses: "Only last year did I discover why the lids of things in tubes have a recessed pointy bit built into them." Tell us about the facepalm moment when you realised you were doing something wrong.

Cheesecake
I found out last month, after years of avoiding it, that cheese cake doesn't contain cheeses like cheddar or red leicester but mascarpone, a sweet cream-like cheese. I was unnecessarily put off by non-existant sponges coated with cheddar. Genius(!)

Sadly I didn't know that. My culinary prowess is about as developed as a muslim's ability to drink.

you must make amends for this
by eating as much delicious cheesecake as you possibly can

I used to think that too.

i am allergic to cheese
and find it surprising how many (often cullinarily educated) people tell me how cheese cake is cheese free as its actually only got mascapone in it.

What..
All cheese? How do you have cheese and beans on toast? Or besterer still, garlic bread with melted cheese and baked beans, hoy a little bit of chorizo for that extra bit of spicy meatiness. Or is it meaty spiciness.
Anyway, there's summat wrong with you.

A friend of mine
Once told me that "Don't be silly, cheesecake isn't made of real cheese!" He continued to be in denial even after I pointed out the ingredients to him. What a silly man.
