I've been ripped off
I bought a computer game, and began playing it with all the glee of a true nerd. A couple of hours in, I get my first crash. Oh, well, maybe it was a one off, I'll clear my temp files, reboot and hope for the best.

then came the other crashes.
so I go and look on some forums...

The game is fucked, totally fucked and I paid £35 for it and can't even play it.

When was the last time you were ripped off by The Man?

What game is it?

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:21, archived)
What game are you referring to?

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:21, archived)
Fallout 3
They should rename it Crashout 3

Oh there'll be a patch soon.

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:23, archived)
Soon? How soon is soon?
I deliberately got it nice and early so I could, you know

Play it.

I don't know
but the turn around of a patch for such a large game is normally quite quick.

I think you should be well within your right to take it back and swap it for the xbox 360 version.

I bought it through Steam

I'd still like to take this moment to bemoan the ethic of 'shove it the fuck out the door and we'll patch it later' that seems to have sprung up nowadays.

THANK YOU

It'll get patched eventually. But still, it's deplorable.
I'm going to buy it for 360, mainly cos my creaky old PC can't handle it. I should hope it's a bit less buggy.

I agree
but there is a lot of politics involved. The publishers are the ones who force it out on a specific date so they don't miss their targets. The devs just have to put with the misery of releasing an unfinished product.

Also with pc games it would be impossible to test it on all possible
hardware/software combinations. So some bugs only come up once the software's released.

oooo
I saw what you did there

I'm making light of disaster
to keep my spirits up.

I don't open myself up to the chance of getting fucked by The Man.
Unless you count the Great University Rip-Off.
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:22, archived)
Oh but it is so much fun.

This
and the real rip-off comes if you want to retrain later.

Getting fucked by the man,
or Uni?
(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:25, archived)
Uni.

(, Sun 2 Nov 2008, 12:26, archived)
Getting fucked by a man is fine, but not The Man.

Never. I'm a clever consumer
(Probably the other day when I was walking back from Sainsburys and the bag split. I had to walk home with a dripping open tub of double cream in my hand)

Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly is like that.
Crashes like a mofo.

This is exactly why people should have spent their money on Lego Batman.
It's the game of the year, make no mistake.
