Any advice...
I don't know if this board is meant to be funny stuff only, but, I am posting round any forum or site I lurk on for advice.
My best mate who I love like my brother, has just found out he may be seriously ill, very seriously, and I this has left me devastated.
Does anyone have any advice on how to keep yourself strong when you need to support someone with this. Ever time I talk to him I feel like I am go to pieces, when all I want to do is help.
I cant help him if I am reduced to puddle of tears whenever I see him.
I love him so much, don't know how to act around him. Should I be honest or put on a brave face??
Please help.

My god...
...is everyone on the internet a cunt?

Just this part of the internet.
You should have anticipated a potential illness of someone close to you and lurked a bit before you posted.

If you'd have attended some more bashes or been part of a clique, you'd be rolling in support right now.

Actually I agree with Mike.

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:22, archived)
It's a fair point

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:24, archived)
Probably because it is easier to feel sympathy towards someone you have met and like.
As opposed to an anonymous internet user.

I dunno.

Yes
Now, have you really been lurking here? I think you lie.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:03, archived)
Everyone on the internet doesn't give a toss about every sad case to come along,
otherwise we'd be sitting at the computer weeping all the time.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:03, archived)
Mostly just folks here. *SPEAKS FOR THE MAJORITY AND CALLS EVERYONE ON /talk A CUNT*
Sorry.

You've been a member for more than a year and you've only just figured this out?
I hate to hear how distressed you'll be when your neurons finally fire off and eventually hit their target and let you know that Princess Di is dead.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:09, archived)
WHEN?
HOW?

IS DODI OK?
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:10, archived)
WHAT DO YOU MEAN PRINCESS DI IS DEAD?

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:11, archived)
Face him, cry alot get it out of your system
AND THEN MAN UP!
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:03, archived)
Probably the best answer yet.

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:04, archived)
Just kill him.
It's quicker and easier for everyone.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:03, archived)
Time's a great healer.

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:03, archived)
I'd try and cheer him up with a bit of blackface and minstrelling

(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:04, archived)
Tell him how you feel once so he knows you care
Then put on the brave face, he shouldn't have to deal with your distress on top of his own.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:05, archived)
You've probably given up on us by now....
You're probably worrying a lot more about it than your mate. You need to see him, laugh and joke and me be normal. Being normal can be such a benfit.

I've been in and out of hospital most of my life, and I would say the worst thing for me, or one of them at least, is seeing how much I'm worrying friends and family, esspecialy when I'm not worried myself, because whatever happens, happens, and there is nothing anyone can do about it.

FUCK, I'VE BEEN LIED TOO !
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:10, archived)
Fuck that, I give a bit of help and don't get a thank you?
Fuckin' 'ell, seriously, BANG out of ORDER.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:16, archived)
Maybe....
..you people are nice after all.
(, Fri 8 May 2009, 19:19, archived)
Well firstly, I'd find out for definite whether he is ill or not.
"he may be seriously ill"?

Secondly, if he is ill, stop acting like a silly cunt and talk to him.
Don't you think he's going to be a tad upset too about possibly dying?

Fucking hell, you are shit. MAN UP and get on with it.
If he is dying, he won't want to be spending his last days/months with you being a tearful moping little runt.
Do something that will enjoy, and you will be able to remember him by when (if indeed he is ill) he is gone.
