Why do lots of
people dislike Paul?
(, Sat 2 Jul 2005, 23:57, archived)

becuse his ego is bigger than his songwriting talent.
he should have quit the music industry around 1969/1970
(, Sat 2 Jul 2005, 23:59, archived)
I agree with the quit date but
he wrote one of the most recorded songs ever - Yesterday. He was talented once.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:01, archived)
yes
i agree he did a lot of good with the beatles - my comment about his songwriting pertains to recent years
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:03, archived)
See my below post.
His lyrics were fantastic, hence the success of Yesterday and Hey Jude amongst others despite their melodic shortcomings. But not every song he wrote had the vocal quality required to make up for the musical shortcomings, and so his quality was always limited.
John, on the other hand, was original and provocative, even if sometimes his lyrics lacked the widespread empathetic touch that makes a good song a classic.
For proof: what's recognised as the best song ever (besides perhaps Bohemian Rhapsody)? It's John's "Imagine," not anything Paul wrote.

hrmmm
imagine or yesterday?

actually, those two words seem to say an awful lot about lennon and maccas
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:07, archived)
and as a finale
four bars from the end of Hey Jude didn't really do it for me. Partly because some idiot gave Mariah Carey a mic and she then gave it to those stupid african kids.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:08, archived)
This strikes me as a remarkably fucktarded point of view.

(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:30, archived)
because
its fashionable too although there are some good jokes about him.
Paul has his family round the dinner table and says he has good news and bad news. The bad news that your mother Linda has died, the goods news however is that its friday so its steak night.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:00, archived)
I like the one
that he bought Heather a plane for Christmas.
He got her a shave for the other leg.
She tried to take it back, but from a legal standpoint she didn't have a leg to stand on.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:02, archived)
OK, talented though he may be,
and undeniably he's a lyrical genius, but his music is shite, and has only got worse over the years.
I swear to fucking God, when they shot John Lennon, they got the wrong one.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:01, archived)
yoko
was just out of shot.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:01, archived)

this is what that ↑ is supposed to say
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:02, archived)
Oh come off it
Lennon would have carried on writing miserable bollock poetry and dodgy art shit.

Because
he thinks he is the sole member of The Beatles
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:05, archived)
He almost is now, though.
What's Ringo doing these days?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:07, archived)

isn't he living it up and keeping his head down in the USA?
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:08, archived)
ringo was never the best drummer in the world
in fact he wasnt even the best drummer in the beatles. In fact he still isn't.

but he reads train stories very well.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:11, archived)
No, he was average at best.
The funny thing about The Beatles is that none of them (bar maybe John, but then I'm a fanboy) was especially brilliant at their craft, but corraboratively they were masters of music. Just goes to show that not everything need be perfect to get result, as long as it all fits.

Oh, and for the record, the finest drummer in the world is Dave Grohl. Nirvana fans may disagree, but anyone who has heard QOTSA's Songs for the Deaf cannot deny that he fucking owns.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:14, archived)
bear in mind that
in SFTD thy recorded all the drums in two runs - all the cymbals were done separately, thus making grohl's drumming appear much cleaner and more elaborate than is at first apparent.

but still, he did a damn fine job.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:17, archived)
True,
but Do It Again proves his quality, and I'd be surprised if he hadn't overlaid it himself because that's just the way he is.
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:19, archived)
ah balls
now i remember what band i forgot to broadcast earlier.
how could i forget QOTSA? *slaps self*
(, Sun 3 Jul 2005, 0:22, archived)
he had a book out
i got it for my dad for christmas
