The first job he got straight after was with the local council, and his first task? - To design a new Hockey Pitch for a local secondary school.
two weeks of calcs, drawings, diagrams, drainage analysis etc etc, and he ended up solving a drainage issue on the affected area by putting the Hockey pitch on a 7 degree slope...
Suffice to say it never got beyond the drawing board.
He didn't last long there.

just because they have a degree in fucking media studies does not mean they know the best direction to move a department.

One of the first jobs I worked on, the designer had two 1050dia pipes running into a 2.4m chamber at the same level and about 15 degrees from each other. Can you believe it?!
It's a laugh a minute in civil engineering.

I shouldn't laugh - (due to the nature of my own work) but stories like that aren't really as uncommon as I wish they were.
We were recently called in to prepare and supervise the Building Regs. on a block of flats in slough. Clients had paid upwards of £20k on 'Architect's fees' down there for planning, and they had conveniently designed a roof that defied the laws of physics. they missed it, planners missed it, and it sailed through planning.

Some sort of hover pads, or the suspensers ala Dune

once it 'twigs' it's quite funny, but an expensive mistake to make.
/and one reason why I'll NEVER become a full architect. I much prefer the lower lights of an Arch. technologist. We design, and we KNOW it works.

They'd have us build a bridge out of glass. Apart from TGA, he's great and should come out more often.

I could stand below and look up girl's skirts.
On the escalator in House of Fraser yesterday the girl 2 steps above grabbed the bottom of her skirt to prevent me seeing her knickers (or perhaps lack thereof). I thought if she's concerned about that she should probably just wear a longer skirt.

I in no way wish to be associated with the bow tiwe wearing, leather patches on elbows denizens of design doom that are full blown architects.
I've worked for a few of them, and the best decision I ever made was to go it alone.
But thank for the kind words, you ol' flatterer you
