I bought an iPhone 3Gs at the weekend.
I am thus far feeling let down by it and iTunes. I did a :(

Only thing I don't like about it is the camera.
But aside that, I think it's the perfect phone for me.

What's your fave apps?

(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:13, archived)
Twitterfon, Geocaching, Shotgun Pro, Lightsaber, Galactica, WhiteNoise, Classics, FlightControl, Zenonia, Facebook, Fluid and Remote.
*gasp*

The only app I've seen that I thought was cool was AirMouse.

Remote is good.
And Bloons is fun. You're a monkey, and you throw darts at ballons to burst them.

Is that one of those tower defence games? I think I played that online the other day

there is a bloons tower defense game
but i think ol' jobey means the original one which is just using a limited number of darts to pop a load of bloons

I like....
- RTM, Ebay, Paypal, Tube Delux, Easy Recipes, Vicinity, Shazam, UrbanSpoon
- FlightControl, FieldRunners, Bookworm, Peggle
- iNet, ezShare, AirSharing
- Facebook, BeejiveIM, Pro RSS, TweetDeck

I also sync Calendar/Mail/Contacts with Google Mail =D

The mail is good as standard but I have 2 gmail addresses
one's on the main page of Safari, and the other is set up in Mail.

I don't know if you can get both email addresses to sync to the one mailbox on the iphone though.

Use one set up as a googlemail account, use the other as MS Exchange (active sync).
Google the settings ;)

I like the Palm Pre best for syncing stuff, from what I've seen.
If there wasn't such a stupid delay, I might have gone for that.

nothing much at the mo.. just a few games, weather and maps (inc. tube).
I've only had it a few days.

I'm happy with mine, but the battery
is shite.

Ha, this is true.

Bluetooth only supports audio devices (i.e. no data transfer)
I *must* use iTunes to do anything with it.. I just want to put some files/music on, not sign up for iTunes and purchase stuff.
It's no where near as open as I'd like. I might jailbreak it to see what's the diff but I dunno.
(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:15, archived)
To be fair itunes is quite lovely
and it's a cinch to use with the iphone, I put all the music on manually (as opposed to automatically filling it up).

Dunno about using it as filespace, though it's easy to get the pictures off it in XP as it sees it as a digital camera.

is it rabid-fanboy o'clock already?

Oh no, someone likes something and has an opinion.

not if I'm using it at multiple locations.
I just lost some stuff whilst syncing at work, that I synced at home.

If it were like Steam is for games (i.e. doesn't matter where I am, as the DRM is on my account, not machine) I'd probably have no complaints.
(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:21, archived)
Hmm, I guess.
I turned off the syncing as it drove me up the wall - but I guess I only have one machine with itunes on.

I don't think it lets you connect it to another machine - even if it's your own - to put music on,
I think it only lets you have one library to sync to. I'm not sure.
(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:24, archived)
Which is my beef.. it's the same account at both locations. :(

oh and iTunes on Linux?

AirShare or ezShare is your friend.
I've not looked, but I'm supprised there isn't an app for bluetoothing files. I've not looked into the API yet, is bluetooth file transfer not allowed?
(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:21, archived)
At the moment, no. At least not by default.
You're probably right and there will be an app for it.. but ffs, I've got what is effectively a small HDD here, why wouldn't they consider file transfer over bluetooth?

I wanted to transfer all my contacts from my old w810i via bluetooth.. nope, nae can do.
(, Tue 7 Jul 2009, 13:23, archived)
That's a simple sollution, sync both of them with Outlook/Thunderbird/Whatever.
Yes, you shouldn't _have_ to do that, but it still works.
