Wheel of Time gets drastically better in the second book
And is consistently good up until book 7, when it rapidly descends into some of the shittest writing I've yet seen

My favourite books
are by Terry Goodkind, the Sword of Truth. I loved them.

Never read them
I heard they sort of got a bit preachy

I didn't think so
but I enjoyed all of the Wheel of Time. Each to their own.

I just thought after book 7 it creaks to a halt, and the main character of the series becomes a shit and even disappears for an entire book

yeah he did
but I really enjoyed the last one, and I'm looking forward to the next story.

Yeah the last one picked right back up
Next book is going to be split in two, so even more waiting for the resolution.

From what I recall, the series was originally conceived as a 7 book series.
But it was decided it should be 12 and there's a bit of padding. But you're right. I really liked Rand until around that point.

Perrin
I liked him until Winter's Heart. He gets a bit mopey after that

That's him
he's is a bit, but he's still one of me favourite characters.

I understand it starts focusing on some of the smaller characters, which people hate
It's a compliant I've heard from a fair number of people.

The smaller and more annoying characters
I just want the story, not the Life and Times of Background Person #781
