To catch 'em all.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 11:52, archived)
Am I right in saying that the newest game doesn't support the first generation pokemans?
Because that would be well shit.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 11:55, archived)
Not as far as I know. Some of the wi-fi events in Japan at the moment are for the original starters and Ash's Pikachu.
They don't roam the wild in the game, but I'm sure they can be traded over to it via LeafGreen/FireRed and Diamond/Pearl.

Or straight from HeartGold and SoulSilver, which would probably be much easier.

Too many pokemon games now.
I remember when it was just red and blue, then they brought out yellow and there was a shitstorm.

I never did get that surfing Pikachu :(

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:02, archived)
I did.
Fucking awesome, it was.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:03, archived)
can't you just get a cat?

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:05, archived)
I had a meowth, will that do?

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:06, archived)
That's right.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:10, archived)
Also, I've got a first edition first generation holographic charizard card.
Yeah.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:12, archived)
can't you just get a dragon?

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:13, archived)
I have Blue on my phone, it's great

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:18, archived)
I wish you could still make your favourite pokemon follow you round
like pikachu could in yellow :)
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:31, archived)
You can do it in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:34, archived)
Rilly?
I had SoulSilver.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:40, archived)
You get them,
but you have to complete the game first
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:08, archived)
It has them in, but only after you've defeated the Elite Four and completed the game once
They then populate the game.

You can also use the dream world to catch things like the original start pokemon

Otherwise known as 'what Eddache said'

I just beat the Elite 4
and N. I had to close my DS and get off the train though so I dunno what happens in the inevitably long cutscene afterwards.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:14, archived)
You're waaay ahead of me
I've only just got to the Flying gym
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:15, archived)
Nothing exciting. You have to beat his mentor after you've beaten N. One of the Sages, I forget his name.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:20, archived)
I quite like my big shiny white firemon

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:26, archived)
I'd only bothered training one Pokemon up for the Elite Four and it was my starter. I kicked all sorts of arse.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:30, archived)
you did the whole game with one pokemon?

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:31, archived)
I have done that before.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:33, archived)
Basically. I had one of those grass monkey pokemon to make up for the fire weakness to water. He was at about level 30. My starter was at 60.
The rest of my team were fodder.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:36, archived)
huh
I like having lots of them.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:41, archived)
Yeah, I start off every game with the plan of raising a whole team equally and then I get bored around the fourth or fifth gym and just plow through.
Luckily there's loads of strong trainers after the main storyline ends you can use to level up. The Elite Four's average level goes up to about 75, and all the trainers in the new areas you unlock are at about 65.
(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:44, archived)
You can catch a Mew in the game but you have to beat the Elite Four six times in a row without saving and then talk to a guy on the bottom floor on Victory Road.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:18, archived)
this is making me REALLY want a DS now.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:30, archived)
DS Lites are like £50 on eBay, well cheap.

(, Thu 21 Apr 2011, 12:32, archived)
I'll have a gander.
Will need to upgrade from Crystal on a yellow Pikachu gameboy colour at some point.
