i've heard of it, I also heard it was notoriously hard to find, unless you know how to.
If you get what I mean.

i see, so i assume it is illegal, how comes it can't just be pulled? i don't really understand these things

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:35, archived)
Well, you can get all sorts of illicit substances on there.
Though I don't think it's all illegal, more about protecting people from getting busted. I think that's why its pretty hard to find, so they can't pull it.

Try this article
gawker.com/5805928/the-underground-website-where-you-can-buy-any-drug-imaginable

Needs tor

i blame moocow for this, i'd never even heard it bitcoins, then one thing led to another

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:41, archived)
I read about them for the first time today. Still terribly confused though.

From what I understand, its a new way of buying goods and services, without using current money.
A new form of untraceable money.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:45, archived)
I don't think it's untraceable
but it's pretty hard to do so. Heard about it a few months back, my brother is a big fan (of bitcoins not the drugs trade)
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:50, archived)
Its centralised, so doesn't have the same checks and balances as a bank.
Which could be a good thing, in the current shaky finacial market.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:03, archived)
didn't the whole market crash the other week because someone as a joke made a post on the official bitcoin forums saying "BITCOINS ARE CRASHING!! SELL SELL SELL!!"

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:14, archived)
haha, I think someone accessed something and ripped off $1000 worth of them.

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:18, archived)
i know nothing about economics but the whole thing sounds as safe as the beanie baby market
after having read this i should say
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:22, archived)
the currency is being rolled back tho, i magine that

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:26, archived)
Whoops, someone does something stupid then someone else decides to fuck with something conected to them.

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:29, archived)
As far as i understand
it was not setup for nefarious purposes, but any sort of nigh-on untraceable way of trading is of course going to draw the drug dealers in.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:57, archived)
and nonces i should think

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:59, archived)
i'm sure we have a drug dealer on here somewhere
and i KNOW we have a nonce.Maybe we should put them out there for research to get the low-down for us.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:02, archived)
Of course.
Though from reading the article its better than having people being killed over territory.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:01, archived)
I'm sure it can be spun both ways, depending on whose writing the article
but i don't want to get in to a debate about drugs are good/bad, that belongs on offtopic.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:04, archived)
Oh can't we, please I'd like a protracted argument.
I'm not bothered either way, less robbing and killing people, more keeping yourself to yourself.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:07, archived)
i fear we'd only end up agreeing if this is your stance.
anyone got a comedy account i can borrow so i can argue the opposite point for the sake of stringing out a pointless argument. In fact, if we do it well enough we could probably draw in some idiots and make a proper fight if we do it on /OT.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:11, archived)
Shhhhh, they don't like people creating 'comedy accounts'
But go ahead and create one. I have a name saving account.

Drugs must be good
They saved Chreyl Cole from malaria for the nation
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:14, archived)
Bad drugs.

M'kay
Actually Shrill contracted malaria when she grazed her knuckles on an infected bog warden.

Then married Ashley in a vain attempt to extract sickle cells from his man ducts.

the mining bit i dont have a clue on, the selling stuff via tor or p2p and paying in them i get, the ebay stuff, not so much either but that gets pulled quickly

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 17:45, archived)
I've had a look, it seems to be a way of generating blocks to add to a block chain.
Which verify transactions, so if you generate blocks, you get some bitcoins for your trouble.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:00, archived)
so what do you add to the train, encryption?

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:10, archived)
Not sure, could be.
It takes a load of processing power to create a block though.
(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:16, archived)
i think i should close the door on all this and forget it is even happening, no offence

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:27, archived)
Hey no harm no foul.

(, Mon 20 Jun 2011, 18:31, archived)
Yeah', I managed to get into the login stage when they've got closed signed up.
So close, so far.
