I can understand someone saying that the zombies in 28 days later *aren't* zombies
but TWD keeps to a fairly classic idea of zombification.

I agree.
People get infected, die and reanimate as mindless predators. That is about as detailed as you need to be to class something as a zombie.

they turned their heads etc... why? what are they using their heads for?
if a zombie is more a case of a mega virus that is inhabiting a lump of meat for whatever benefits it gets, what use does it have for a head, eyes etc?
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:18, archived)
You don't appear to use your head for much either, but you still have one.

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:20, archived)
so, answer my question then if you can. if it makes sense then fine.

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:21, archived)
You know that zombies are just infected people, right?
They had heads before they became zombies. And if I recall, the zombies on TWD navigated via hearing and sense of smell.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:23, archived)
so it's the corpse that is hearing? not the virus / whatever?

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:24, archived)
In this case, yes.
It depends on which work of fiction you are referring to. Because it's fiction, and the people writing the fiction decide how it all works, because it's fiction.

Look at how parasitic insects and mushrooms infect and control their hosts...

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:26, archived)
that stuff is utterly fascinating.
I'd presume that a lot of the learnings from those are used in decent zombie writing.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:29, archived)
Have you ever actually read any zombie writing? At all?
If you haven't read any, how can you possibly judge 'good' or 'bad'?
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:31, archived)
nope, i'm not interested
I would think that anyone should be allowed to judge something like that purely on its own merit. you shouldn't need to be well read to watch a poor quality american drama.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:34, archived)
what?

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:34, archived)
what what??

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:35, archived)
oh, the ninja edit.
the fact is, whether you're reading or watching something that you find basically interesting, if it's fiction then there must surely come a point where you can let 'suspension of disbelief' go in order to just enjoy something? if you're not enjoying it, then give it up as a bad job and SHUT UP.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:37, archived)
I saw the end of the series, but I won't watch the next one
To totally exagerate what I mean, when they were in one of those many alleys being cornered, why didn't they just fire their jet powered rocket shows and blast off? because they didn't have them, they could have had them if that was how the show worked, but they didn't because it wasn't.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:42, archived)
You denty brained spastic.

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:55, archived)
What's wrong with you?

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 14:35, archived)
Right, so you're not interested in the exact thing that your original argument is based upon?

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:35, archived)
i'm not "into" it, but as a viewer my thoughts should still be permitted.
I wouldn't doubt for a second that plenty of other zombie versions would sit fine with me.

WHAT IS EVERYONE'S FUCKING PROBLEM HERE, BATMAN IS CLEARLY NOT A CLASSIC ZOMBIE, FOR CHRISTBUGFUCKERING SAKE

Nah, everyone just bases their zombies now off of George A. Romero's zombies.

i wouldn't dream of it.
just nothing to reply to, without sounding like an even bigger prick.
(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:28, archived)
I find that so very hard to believe.

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:29, archived)
I can *always* look worse.

(, Tue 27 Sep 2011, 13:52, archived)
